Thanks to the generosity of Cooks opening bowler Jason Kruger, you can now help out our club and get a great Christmas gift at the same time.

Jason explains just how easy it is below.

I have created vouchers for my photography business. The voucher goes for £40 for an hour photo shoot. More details can be found at http://www.jkkphotography.co.uk/gift-voucher/81470.

I am willing to make a donation to Cogenhoe CC for every sale sold through the club. Anyone can sell the voucher and get the cash, cheque made payable to Jason Kruger or sold through the site. If sold through the site I would need the person selling it or the customer to let me know that it has been done via Cogenhoe CC. Anyone selling would need to give me the contact details of the customer so that a voucher can be sent to them.

Our thanks to Jason for this most generous offer and if you want to give mum`s, dad`s or grandparents that extra special Xmas gift just click on the link above.

Our congratulations to Ashley Davis, Matt Morrissey and Roy Quennell who successfully passed their level one coaching assistants course at Moulton College on Sunday.

The three also attended a first aid and Child Protection course as part of the Assistant Coaches course and will now be able to help out at Junior Practice evenings when the season begins in April of next year.

Cogenhoe now have an impressive 10 level one coaches and one level 2 coach in Jason Roberts. Good luck to Jamie Plowman and David Towler who are taking their level 2 course in the new year.

The generosity and compassion of the members and supporters of our club continued to impress this year as we raised over £460 for a variety of charities in 2011.

Our Charity Quiz held in September was once again well supported and keenly contested. Gary Brough and his assistant Richard brought technology, jokers and fun to quiz night and the net result was £210 raised.

Matt Morrissey`s The Burkes and Hairs triumphed by just one point from the Chairmans 6 who quite frankly were robbed by some very strict marking (apparently a Wold as in Stowe on the Wold is not a hill its a “small hill” ) whilst the previous champions the Towler and Masons clan and Gareth Goddards Bar Flies came joint third.

Matt`s side donated their £120 to the Air Ambulance, Matt Golbys Chairmans 6 donated their £60 to Kidsaid a local charity helping children affected by bereavement, neglect, abuse and bullying and one that relies totally on charitable donations. Louise and Julie donated their £15 to the Jennifer Trust while without a hint of irony Dan said that the Bar Flies £15 was going to a dementia charity but he could not remember its name!

Apart from this quiz Gary also raised a further £132 for the Jennifer Trust from another quiz he organised and our thanks to Gary for all his efforts this year.

The club also made donations to the village flower festival, the Macmillan Coffee Morning and the Teenage Cancer Trust. All in all £469.50 donated as well as more empty ink cartridges to Marie Curie.

The club wishes to thank everybody who has helped us in raising money for charity. We receive some lovely letters of thanks from the charities concerned and they really appreciate your efforts.

As of October 31 st 2011 Cogenhoe CC are an accredited cricket club.

Just over three years since we began the process we received the news from Derek Styman and now we are officially listed on the ECB website Clubmark register.

There are just 25 clubs from the NCL that are accredited with only ourselves in Division 6 and Bugbrooke in Division 7 clubs outside the top three leagues to be awarded clubmark. There are over 70 clubs in the NCL.

The driving force behind our application and success was Dave Patrick. Dave spent hundreds of hours collating the relevant paperwork, supplying coaching session details, practice registers, attending courses, chasing coaches certificates, organising coaching courses, first aid courses and attending meetings and seminars and much much more. As Dave neared the completion of the clubs evidence file he persuaded Nobby Wykes to lend a hand. Nobby brought a wealth of experience and common sense to the process and was in essence Dave`s go too guy if Dave was unsure about something.

During the three years the club added four additional level one coaches Mukesh Dave, Jamie Plowman, Nick Lester and David Towler and currently has three more members Matt Morrissey, Ashley Davis and Roy Quennell in the middle of another course. Ten club members took a first aid course and Dave , David Towler and Roy Quennell attended the Child Welfare Officers course in April of this year.

Tony Bird produced a superb risk assessment of Compton Park for our file as well as being instrumental in amending our constitution.

Gareth Goddard provided us with a link to St James Primary School which has not only given us a chance to recruit more youngsters to the club but also proved to be a most important element of our development plan.

Charlie Bryant, Malc Browning and Peter Cox ensured our ground was always in top order as were the changing rooms.

After we presented the file in August we had a visit to one of our youth coaching sessions where Jason Roberts and his team were observed carrying out a variety of drills and coaching lessons. Whilst our changing facilities were checked for the correct notices.

Finally Dave , Nobby and Roy visited Derek at the County Ground to go through the process of submitting a Club Development Plan .We then sent the plan to David and Louise Towler who polished it up and we finally sent that off in October.

Clubmark accreditation lasts for 3 years , when the club will be reassessed. The club will receive a framed clubmark certificate with Jason Kruger already having the clubmark logo proudly showing as a club achievement on our home page.

An achievement it certainly is and my thanks to all of the above for their time , dedication and effort all in the name of our club. At our recent awards night Dave picked up the Clubman of the Year award and thoroughly deserved it was too. As I have said many times recently our club owes Dave a great debt of gratitude as we do also to his partner Joyce who has been very supportive and indeed roped in on a number of occasions to use her secretarial skills.

Our thanks also to Derek Styman for his encouragement, help and support and thanks to our Parish Council who have passed on their congratulations on hearing the news of our award.

We have every right to be very proud in achieving Clubmark status especially when you look at the size of the clubs above us compared to ourselves. For a small village such as ours it is a tremendous achievement. We have had a fantastic few years both on and off the field recently and I have every confidence that with the quality of players, committee, Vice Presidents and Sponsors we have here there are more to come.

The first team visited Harlestone knowing that a win would guarantee them promotion to division six in 2012. With Dan delayed in traffic stand in skipper Gareth Goddard called heads and decided to have a bowl, it really is that simple Dan.

Opening the attack AlexHarvey-Jones and Jason Kruger both made early break throughs clean bowling the openers. When Alex then accounted for the Harlestone dangerman Raval with a caught and bowled the Cooks were in the driving seat. But a decent partnership between Pooley 45 and the hard hitting Marshall 71 aided by some sloopy Cogenhoe fielding saw the hosts back in the game. The small boundaries and some aggressive hitting saw Harlestone edge closer to the 200 mark but at the same time wickets began to tumble as the Cooks finally started to hold some catches. In the final over Jason clean bowled the hosts number 10 and Harlestone were finally dismissed for 218.

Jason finished with match figures of 12.2-5-34-4 and he was well supported by Alex4-66 and James 2-40.

The Cooks reply got off to a decent start with Gareth and Dan putting on 40 in 10 overs before Dan gave a sharp return chance to Shetty when on 17. A yes no call accounted for Liam Knight when he slipped trying to make his ground and suddenly Cogenhoe were 42-2. Gareth Tompkins signalled his intent with his 25 runs coming from just 7 balls and he was also peppered by 3 head high beamer which saw Shetty removed from the attack although in the bowlers favour there was no malice intended. Gareth then edged the replacement bowler to the keeper to leave the game nicely poised with Cogenhoe 75-3 in the 14 th over. Henry Swallow came to the crease and began his innings with 4 fours as he and Gareth Goddard built a superb match winning partnership that took the Cooks from 75-3 to the brink of victory, putting on 133 in 24 overs with Gareth eventually out for 62 which included 12 fours followed closely by Henry whose 87 included 16 fours and a six. It was a joy to watch these two build a proper partnership constantly encouraging each other and not trying to hit the cover off every ball. In the end James had the honour of hitting the winning boundary for a win that guaranteed Cogenhoe the runners up spot in the division and promotion to division 6.

Congratulations to everyone concerned with the club on another promotion which has been achieved by a real team effort. Dan led from the front with his batting but there have been some excellent contributions throughout the side during the season and a more in depth review will appear here over the next few weeks.

Congratulations to Oundle II’s on once again being crowned league champions and to Yelvertoft who will also join us in division 6 next season.

As for the seconds well a report will appear here soon but as a taster we will be reporting on a quite sensational 8 wicket haul for one of our bowlers in another superb double winning weekend for our club. !
