Our club has achieved a remarkable success at the Northamptonshire Sports Awards by picking up the prestigious Community Club of the Year award at the Sports Awards held at the Kettering Conference Centre last night.
We were shortlisted along with Northampton Badminton Cub, Kettering Volleyball Club, Wellingborough Open Archery Club and Daventry Amateur Athletics Club. The MC for the night was Mike Sewell of BBC Radio 5 Live with Anne Panter from Kettering presenting the awards. Anne was a member of the GB Womens Hockey team that won Bronze at the London Olympics.
When our category was announced Mike read a citation for each of the nominees and ours read as follows.
“The club continues to develop and improve. At the end of 2011 the club achieved Clubmark accreditation and has qualified a number of coaches at level 1 & 2, grown the youth section, set up a new U9 team and raised funds for local charities as well as seeing their first team promoted to the highest division they have ever achieved”
The other clubs had equally impressive citations.
A major part of the evening was the involvement of the Countys Olympic games makers and each presentation had one of them reading out the winners names and to the amazement of Dave Patrick, Peter Cox, Councillor Michael Clarke and myself the name Cogenhoe Cricket Club was read out.I had the honour of accepting the award on behalf of our club which included a certificate, a trophy that we keep and the Northampton Sports Development Cup.

The club would like to thank everyone at Northamptonshire Sport for organising a wonderful evening enjoyed by us all. and our congratulations to all the winners . We are very humbled by the award and very proud considering the high standard of the other nominated clubs who we wish well for the future.
